Dataset from project looking at aerosols from dental procedures and the effect of Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV). Dental procedures were undertaken with an air-turbine handpiece (AT) in an open plan setting, or using an ultrasonic scaler (USS) in a single surgery setting. Procedures were conduction with or without Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) and dental suction. Negative control conditions were conducted.

Data were collected:
(1)using an Optical Particle Counter (OPC) showing detected particle counts over time in different particle size bins.
(2) using a liquid cyclone air sampler (BioSampler) to collect fluorescein tracer, measured using a spectrofluorometer in Relative Fluorescence Units (RFU).
(3) by measuring fluorescein which settles onto filter papers in the environment (RFU).

Data from pilot studies also included whereby the LEV device was run with spray from a dental handpiece containing (1) water or (2) fluorescein directed into the nozzle to detect whether this could be detected from the vents of the LEV. Additionally, temperature and relative humidity data are included in both settings.
