Instruments, hardware and software used: Freesurfer for processing of MRI images, MATLAB for extraction of relevant information. Details described in publication.



Date(s) of data collection: MRI data not collected in house, but downloaded from public databases (see publication for details). Processing performed in 2016.



Geographic coverage of data: N/A



Data validation (how was the data checked, proofed and cleaned): MATLAB code was written by YW and checked by JN.

Definitions of names, labels, acronyms or specialist terminology uses for variables, records and their values: 
AvgCorticalThickness_lh: cortical thickness of the left hemisphere
AvgCorticalThickness_rh: cortical thickness of the right hemisphere
TotalArea_lh: total surface area of the grey matter of the left hemisphere
TotalArea_rh: total surface area of the grey matter of the right hemisphere
ExposedArea_lh: total exposed surface area of the grey matter of the left hemisphere
ExposedArea_rh: total exposed surface area of the grey matter of the right hemisphere

Explanation of weighting and grossing variables: N/A



Outline any missing data: Rows of zero entries indicate cases where Freesurfer processing was not successful. This data is neglected for the analysis in the paper.
