READ ME This text describes the data presented in the paper: Micro-machinability of nanoparticle-reinforced Mg-based MMCs: An experimental investigation ======================== Introductory information ======================== Files included in the data deposit (include a short description of what data are contained): 1)machining parameter set data 2)machined surface topography data 3)surface roughness measurement data Explain the relationship between multiple data sets, if required: n/a Key words used to describe the data: metal matrix composites (MMCs), micro-machinability, surface roughness, surface topography, size effects ========================== Methodological information ========================== A brief method description – what the data is, how and why it was collected or created, and how it was processed: Surface topography data were collected by SEM – data were not post-processed; surface roughness data were collected using surface profilometer – data were processed using ANOVA tool in Minitab package. All these data were used to analyse micro-machinability of nanoparticle-reinforced Mg-based MMCs. Instruments, hardware and software used: Scanning Electron Microscope (TM3030); Zygo surface profilometer (NewView 5000) and MiniTab Date(s) of data collection: Feb - May 2015 Geographic coverage of data: n/a Data validation (how was the data checked, proofed and cleaned): n/a Overview of secondary data, if used: n/a ========================= Data-specific information ========================= Definitions of names, labels, acronyms or specialist terminology uses for variables, records and their values: n/a Explanation of weighting and grossing variables: n/a Outline any missing data: n/a ======= Contact ======= Please contact rdm@ncl.ac.uk for further information
