Methodological information

A brief method description – what the data is, how and why it was collected or created, and how it was processed:
We used a set of different methods to characterize the metallic nickel nanoparticles (XRD, HRTEM, EDS, ICP-MS) as well as light microscopy for the characterization of the embryonic development of the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus.
The collected data within this study describe the properties of metallic nickel nanoparticles especially in the seawater environment and their effects on sea urchin embryonic development. This laboratory study contributes to current studies on metallic nanoparticles and their potential consequences to the marine ecosystem.
Data were produced by repeated experiments and measurements.
