READ ME This text describes the data presented in the paper: ======================== Introductory information ======================== Files included in the data deposit (include a short description of what data are contained): 1) 1. Anode performance (LSV, CV, optimising medium concentration) 2) 2. Cathode performance (CV, H2 production, catholyte analysis, energy recovery analysis) 3) 3. Bioanode & biocathode comparative tables (for comparison and overview) 4) 4. MEC schematic (that used in the study) Explain the relationship between multiple data sets, if required: N.A. Key words used to describe the data: Bioanode, biocathode, biological microbial electrolysis cell, limiting factor, applied potential ========================== Methodological information ========================== A brief method description – what the data is, how and why it was collected or created, and how it was processed: The data was obtained from electrochemical analysis using linear sweep voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry method. The aim was to check the catalytic activities possessed by the biofilms and how they reacted in different applied potentials. Both power supply and potentiostat were used in these analysis. Detailed analysis was performed by a software dedicated to the instruments to pin-point the main findings. Electrolytes were analysed using gas chromatography, total organic carbon analyser, pH and conductivity meter depends on the natural of the media used in the study. Instruments, hardware and software used: Quad Potentiostat, Whistonbrook Technologies, UK PGSTAT128N, Metrohm, Netherland GC-8A, Shimadzu, UK Date(s) of data collection: 2016 Geographic coverage of data: N.A Data validation (how was the data checked, proofed and cleaned): N.A Overview of secondary data, if used: N.A ========================= Data-specific information ========================= Definitions of names, labels, acronyms or specialist terminology uses for variables, records and their values: N.A Explanation of weighting and grossing variables: N.A Outline any missing data: N.A ======= Contact ======= Please contact rdm@ncl.ac.uk for further information
