Posted on 2024-12-18 - 20:56 authored by Christopher Harrison

This collection of items are associated with the show "Audio Universe: Tour of the Solar System". This is part of the wider Audio Universe project (www.audiouniverse.org).

This is a sonification-based astronomy show about the solar system, targetted towards children aged 7-11 and families. It was designed in collaboration with members of the blind and vision impaired community, children with a vision impairement, and their specialist teachers.

The design and production of the show, including the individual elements released in this collection, is described in the publication:

Chris Harrison, James Trayford, Leigh Harrison and Nic Bonne, Astronomy & Geophysics, Volume 63, Issue 2, Pages 2.38-2.40 (2022), arXiv:2112.02110.

This collection shares the full show, as well as the individual primary sonifications (data into sound) components that were developed for the show. There were created with the STRAUSS code (Trayford & Harrison, 28th Proceedings of the International Community of Auditory Displays (ICAD2023), p249-256, 2023), which is available on github: https://github.com/james-trayford/strauss. The github repository also includes the codes used to produce the sonifications released in this collection.
