Home Network Map: An Instrument for Design-Led Inquiry

This paper describes a bespoke instrument built by the author to surface material features of IP networks as part of an ongoing Research Through Design exploration into the disputed territory of the home network. The instrument presents a real-time map of the home network; the devices present and their activities. This paper describes the instrument’s design as a work in progress for the Making Home workshop at CHI 2017.
