Field data on 'contact zones', school trips to local food organisations

dataset
posted on 2021-01-15, 15:14 authored by Sebastian ProstSebastian Prost
This data is underpinning the publication "Contact Zones: Designing for More-than-Human Food Relations"

The data stems from 5 distinct 'contact zones'. 4 at food organisations: a local mushroom grower, an organic vegetable farm, a community centre baking bread, and a food bank. A Year 3 school class of 21 students visited each organisation and took part in its work practices, documented their visit, and reflected on it afterwards in the classroom.
The fifth contact zones took place in the school and included food plate designs and soup cooking.

The dataset includes:
- Interviews with young people reflecting on school visits
- Interviews with the teacher reflecting on school visits
- Photographs of reflective posters the students created after the school visits.
