Description

This dataset supports the article “Addressing how spatial resolution affects image velocimetry outputs: implications for measurements from space”. It provides all results, scripts, and figures required to enable replication of the published outputs and to facilitate further analysis.

The dataset includes:

Results: Outputs from image velocimetry experiments at the Androscoggin River (ACR) and Agua Fria River (AFR). Experiments test the sensitivity of tracer-based velocity and discharge estimates to variations in spatial resolution (0.0279–3.0 m) and temporal sampling frequency (0.25–23.98 Hz). Results include velocity outputs (.csv), discharge summary reports (.html, .pdf), particle trajectory plots (.svg), and ADCP reference measurements (.xlsx, .csv).

ACR_Bathymetry: Field-based reference data collected at the Androscoggin River site. This folder contains a QRev discharge report (.pdf), a bathymetry survey (.csv), and a velocity profile across the channel cross-section (.txt). These data provide ground-truth context for evaluating image velocimetry outputs.

MATLAB scripts: Code used for video preprocessing (frame rate reduction, rescaling, image pair extraction) and for reproducing figures presented in the article.

Figures: All figures from the article, provided in high-resolution formats with documented workflows.

Source videos

The input UAS videos and aDcp data used for these analyses are not included here but can be accessed via:

Engel, F., Cadogan, A., and Duan, J.
